How much do you wish to donate?
People with diabetes will achieve better results if they understand the ins-and-outs of the condition. Whether it is choosing the right foods, planning exercise, or calculating the safe and correct dose, education in the key. We offer classes to guide you to a healthy lifestyle. Some of our topics include, meal planning, healthy cooking, grocery shopping, making lasting changes, and creating a healthy home. Diabetes education is one of the best tools in managing your condition and should frequently be updated as the industry is constantly changing.
Individual Education: Individual nutrition and diabetes education for type 1 diabetes is offered in English. Education is provided by a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator. Insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring device training is also available.
ONETALK: ONETALK is a support group for people with type 1 diabetes and for parents of children with type 1 diabetes. The group represents a collaboration between WSDC and JDRF and meets at 5:30pm on the third Tuesday of every month at CenCal Health. The monthly meetings alternate between Sharing & Caring sessions and guest presenters. Here is a schedule of this year’s presenters and topics.

Classes (Spanish): Ocho Pasos is a comprehensive eight week series covering nutrition and diabetes self-management topics.

Individual education: Individual nutrition and diabetes education for gestational diabetes is offered in English and Spanish. Education is provided by a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator and a bilingual Diabetes Educator.
Classes (Spanish): Semillas de Cambio is a comprehensive seven week series for women who have experienced a pregnancy complicated by diabetes. The program’s curriculum includes a Life Plan booklet, scripted lessons, and interactive teaching tools. Classes are taught by trained peer health educators, or “Promotoras”, and provide a safe learning environment geared at improving health in preparation for a future pregnancy, gestational diabetes, or to prevent type 2 diabetes later in life.
